While it’s a huge chasm before programs like ChatGPT and Midjourney are used in any sort of military capacity, Rogue One director Gareth Edwards asks a big “what if” with The Creator.
Though AI as a villainous force has been around for decades, The Creator takes a different approach. The film follows protagonist Joshua (John David Washington) after discovering that a world-ending weapon he’s been instructed to destroy is an AI in the form of a young child, making for a somewhat reverse-Terminator scenario. The Creator will be released on September 29 in IMAX and traditional theaters.
